PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

The Fun Factor Is Here In The Bay Area Snow Sports Coun- cil!

As we approach the fall months of 2014, there are amazing events being planned by the Bay Area Snow Sports Council (BAC). Some will be informative, others beneficial to your clubs and all will be Fun for Everyone.

September 8, 2014 we are going to have a Special BAC General Coun- cil Meeting at The Englander in San Leandro, CA. We’d like to invite Club Presidents, BAC Reps and Club Membership Directors to this meeting as our focus will be on assisting clubs to build and maintain membership. There will be Power Point Presentations, handouts and your input to assist all of us to keep our clubs strong.

During the above meeting we will also be sharing information about the upcom- ing SnowBomb Shows in San Francisco (Nov. 1 & 2) & San Jose (Nov. 8 & 9). Once again Jim McAlpine of SnowBomb is generously providing the BAC with a free booth at each location. This booth is used to promote all of our clubs! What we need from you is your clubs informational Tri-folds, Picture Boards and Volunteers From Your Club to talk to people as to why they need to join your club! As a note: since this is a BAC Booth, please be sure to direct people to the club in their local area!

November 3, 2014 following the SnowBomb Show in San Francisco, the BAC will hold our 6th Annual Winterfest Celebration Meeting at The Englander in San Leandro. We invite Club Presidents, BAC Reps & Travel Directors to this meeting. Due to Limited Space, we must stand fast on how many can represent each club. The evening will begin with a Silent Auction / Travel Carousel & Raf- fle. Then we go into the next room for dinner and presentationofallwinners. Thepopularityofthis event continues to grow with our Industry Partners. We have already received conformations from Tellu- ride,SunPeaks,SunValley,BigWhiteandMammoth (always subject to change) that they plan on attending our 6th Annual BAC Winterfest Celebration Meeting. More Industry Partners are being invited! There will be a flat rate (TBD) for everyone who attends this meeting. You will receive entrance, 1 drawing ticket & dinner.

November 6, 2014 while our Industry Partners are in town between the San Francisco and San Jose Snow- Bomb Shows, we will have our first ever BAC Hockey Night with The San Jose Sharks. At this time, there are twenty five (25) seats reserved in Sec- tion 223 for the BAC. We have great group pricing . . . only $52.00 Per Ticket! If we sell these out

quickly . . . We Can Possibly Get More! I already know our Canadian Friends from both Big White and Sun Peaks plan on being with us at the game. More Industry Partners are being invited. This event is a Fund Raiser for the Far West Foundation through which the BAC will Sponsor a Junior Racer from our area! Full details on how to purchase your tickets and more event information can be found on the included event flier and on the BAC website (www.skibac.org). Remember, At This Time We Are Only Guaran- teed Twenty Five Tickets. Contact me ASAP (Dennis Heffley bac.president@skibac.org or at 925-998-4415) and let me know if you are going! We will do what we can to add more seats as they are needed!

Have you noticed all of the FUN we have lined up and haven’t even talked about the incredible Ski Trips coming up this winter with the Far West Ski Associa- tion?

January 31 ~ February 7, 2015 FWSA Ski Week is going to Whistler/Blackcomb.

March 30 ~ April 4, 2015 FWSA Mini Ski Trip will be at Whitefish.

Both of these locations and trips will give you long lastingmemoriesoftheadventuresyou’llhaveskiing/ boarding on their slopes. More information about these trips inside this newsletter!

All Winter Long the BAC has a GREAT Recrea- tional Race Program. It is designed to be FUN for all abilities and ages! There are Special Discounts for Lift Tickets at our Host Resort the Day of our Recrea- tional Races. This gives people an opportunity to visit different locations in the Tahoe Region with a Fun Group of Fellow Skiers/Boarders. Many clubs set up Discounted Lodging on those weekends. If you don’t think you have enough people from your club to get your own lodging . . . talk to the other clubs! They just might have a few extra rooms they can share with you. The BAC has a couple of Lodging Partners of- fering us BAC Benefits Discounts! You might need to drive in from Reno or South Shore, but the rates are pretty good.

Remember, you are reading the BAC August News- letter! Winter is getting closer and more Fun will be shared soon!

Thank You For Being The One Who Makes The Dif- ference!
